This church in particular is St. George's Church, the oldest Anglican church in Southeast Asia still standing. Built in 1818, the British had Penang firmly under their control by that point in time and Penang was one of their key settlements in the Malacca Strait.

Located in the heart of George Town, this church served and continues to serve the Christians of the Malay city.
